Tijuana.- Se estima que en el país unos 20 mil menores de edad son víctimas de las redes de explotación sexual infantil, cuya actividad reditúa a las redes de trata, ganancias similares a las que genera el tráfico de armas y droga.

Así lo dio a conocer Miriam Peña Munguía, coordinadora del Programa Contra la Trata y Explotación Sexual Infantil del comité ejecutivo CROC, en el foro que se realizó en la ciudad de Rosarito el fin de semana, donde participaron los integrantes del gremio de taxistas amarillos.

Indicó que México ocupa el segundo lugar a nivel mundial en el rubro de maltrato infantil, sólo detrás de la India, de igual manera, encabeza la lista de países productores de páginas de pornografía infantil en el mundo.

"Entre las ciudades que presentan mayor número de casos, destacan los sitios turísticos, como lo son Cancún, Tijuana, Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Chiapas", entre otras.

Miriam Peña comentó que el último diagnóstico hecho por las autoridades mexicanas en el año 2000, reveló que unos 16 mil niños son víctimas de las redes de pornografía y maltrato, ahora se estima que sean unos 20 mil menores de edad.

Dijo que en su mayoría se trata de mujeres menores de edad las que son víctimas de explotación sexual, pues la figura femenina es más atractiva para las redes delincuenciales, expuso.

Peña Munguía dijo que el Gobierno Federal se unirá a una campaña de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), la cual pretende disminuir los índices que generan estas actividades ilícitas (tráfico y/o explotación sexual infantil).

En el foro, los miembros de los taxis amarillos se comprometieron a no transportar a turistas que busquen tener relaciones con menores de edad, además a denunciar a estas personas que intenten hacerlo.
